First Baptist Church of Dayton is a Baptist Church in the heart of downtown Dayton . We are a progressive Baptist church attempting to be the “body of Christ” in a particular location.
First Baptist Church of Dayton belongs to American Baptist Churches U.S.A. ABC USA has headquarters in Valley Forge , PA. FBC Dayton is a member of the ABC Ohio Region and the Dayton Area Baptist Association.
First Baptist Church of Dayton aspires to that word. When you come to First Baptist Church you have a right to know what to expect. I'm not interested in defining this church on the basis of what we don't believe and with whom we disagree. I think everyone knows that we are not fundamentalists and that I don't have a conservative theology. When you come to First Baptist Church you will find an open table. All are welcome; none are excluded.

To build an open, diverse, welcoming, informed, and inclusive Christian community where non-religious, nominally religious persons, and deeply religious persons become or continue their journey as committed Christians.

When you attend First Baptist Church of Dayton, you will find that we are intentional about our commitment to read, to study, to preach, and to apply the teachings of the Bible. Our pastor will interpret the Scripture using the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the academy, and the positive principles of critical biblical scholarship. We celebrate together the Bible as the church's book inspired by the Holy Spirit.
You will find compelling preaching of the Word. Using resources from every possible discipline, our pastors bring the Word of God to bear on our lives in real, prophetic, at times comforting, at other times disturbing, and at all times, in faithful ways.
You will find a church that deliberately accents our distinctive Baptist ways, principals, and traditions. We are committed to the priesthood of the believer, the integrity and truthfulness of the Bible, free will of each human being, local autonomy of the church, ecumenical and interfaith ministry, separation of church and state, and obedient discipleship.
You will find a community of believers who don't insist on labels and a particular set of dogmas or beliefs. First Baptist Church members come from a diverse community of faith. Together we are struggling to be faithful to Jesus Christ.
